Taxes are applied based on how you setup your structure here. The EasyCart system has a variety of methods to choose from and multiple tax systems may be applied to a customers orders based on how you setup this system. Please consult with your business accountant to insure you have the proper tax methods for your online business.
State or Province Tax System
You may add multiple states or provinces and rates to your system. IF a customer checks out and the state or province matches a state found in the list here, that tax rate will be calculated, displayed to the user, and added to their grand total.
Country Tax System
If you wish to enable a country tax, simply select that country and enter a rate. IF a customer checks out and the country matches the country entered here, that tax rate will be calculated, displayed to the user, and added to their grand total.
Global Tax System
If you wish to enable a global tax, simply select global tax and enter a rate. IF a customer checks out, that tax rate will be calculated, displayed to the user, and added to their grand total.
Customs Duty or Export Tax System
If you wish to have an export tax, then you would select your country from this list. All other countries will be taxed at the given rate. For example, if your business is in the UK, and you wish to tax all exported orders, you would select the UK and enter the tax export rate. IF a customer checks out and the country does not match this exempt country, that tax rate will be calculated, displayed to the user, and added to their grand total.
Value Added Tax (VAT) System
The VAT system has been developed to include several options based on the most popular situations we have seen. This gives you control as to whether you want VAT to be added at cart level, or included at the product level. You can also establish VAT globally or at the country level.
Enable VAT Globally: Will make VAT appear regardless of where the customer is coming from. All orders will see the same VAT.
Enable VAT by Country: Will first show VAT based on your VAT rate entered, but you can also go to each country and set an individual VAT rate for them specifically. The store will use the general VAT rate first, and once a customer checks out and there is a valid country for the customer defined, it will pull a country rate if setup.
VAT added: The VAT amount will be shown in the shopping cart during checkout. It will not appear at the product level.
VAT included: The VAT amount will be shown at the product level and shopping cart during checkout.
VAT users can also have the option to turn VAT on or off at the product level PER Product, simply edit your product and go to the 'Advanced Listing Options' to uncheck or check this option.
TaxCloud API Integration
If you are wanting to use the TaxCloud integration, we have now integrated with their API to get current tax rates based on zip codes... helpful for U.S. customers who need specific rates per county or city. To connect to the TaxCloud API system, please visit the EasyCart Admin -> Advanced Options to enter details and begin pulling rates.
